The Plains of Moab

As we circled around to come into Amman airport we were looking down on the biblical "Plain of Moab". The horizon is the edge of the plain that then drops dramatically into the rift valley that contains the Sea of Gallilee, Jordan River and Dead Sea, and of course the dig site of Tal el-Hamman. We saw the drop off clearly but as said in the previous post, couldn't see the bottom. Israel is in the haze. We saw snow covered mountains about where the leading edge of the wing is.
